Finding Room For You
There are times when we know we need more support. We realize we have been carrying things that have become too heavy to carry alone. We have a clear desire to grow into our full potential but we feel stuck and discouraged. We struggle to communicate with our partner and feel the pain of disconnection. We buckle under the incessant demands of being a good parent.
It is hard to reach out and ask for therapeutic support. Many of us were raised to push down our emotions and work harder. Many of us have tried to express our feelings, but no one was able to be there for us in the ways that we needed. I get that. I avoided therapy for a long time before I sought attuned support that helped me expand and deepen my relationships. Becoming a therapist and offering that same kind of support to others is one of the great joys of my life.
My work is influenced by Family Systems theory, Lifespan Integration, The Developmental Model (Couples Therapy), and Internal Family Systems. I am also deeply influenced by my own family. The one I grew up in, and the one I am continually creating with my husband of 24 years. We are a biracial couple raising a teenage son and teenage twin daughters. I earned my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy at Seattle Pacific University.
